HTWW - Summative Task

HTWW - Summative Task:


WALT: Inquire into an Energy Source:
In groups of 2, you are to choose one type of energy (nuclear, wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, biomass {coal, gas, wood}, tidal) and carry out an inquiy.
You must include the following:
  1. What is the power source? What form of energy is this?
This includes a poem inspired by “The Wind” It is…….
  1. How do we harness it? A diagram or flowchart showing the transformations of the energy source to electricity.
This will also include an Explanatory  POEM ,followinng the Success Criteria: Noun, Verb
  1. What are the different perspectives pros (positives) and cons (negatives) of using your chosen power source to produce electricity? Please include it’s impact on the environment and society.
  1. Brainstorm first: Please include a table summarising the positives and negatives of using your source to produce energy
  2. Possible Perspectives include: Environment, Efficiency, Geography of New zealand, visual impact, pollution, renewable/ non-renewable,

Mr Aspden will be closely marking one of your negative perspectives of your chosen power source against the following Success Criteria:
-Used 1-2 AAAWWUBIS Sentences
-Used paragraphs
-Extra, used an "ing" word to add information when writing a complex sentence.

  1. What does the future look like for your chosen power source? p24 - WALT - Take notes by identifying key words, then putting these into out own sentences. (DRAFT in UOI BOOK) Think about how and where it will be used, Its availability and how it will have changed, Will we use it more or less (In New Zealand), and why?
  2. As responsible citizens; how can we make a difference? (energy sources-renewable/non-renewable, use of energy etc. MAKE a list of all the possible ways to cut down on energy use!
